London Bubble drama programmes for primary schools
As part of our commitment to making theatre with and for our local community these programmes are offered to Lewisham, Greenwich and Southwark primary schools. Many participants from our in-school work, children, young people and adults carry onto to take part in other London bubble activity, including joining our resident groups and coming to see our spectacular touring productions.
If you would like to know more about any of our in-school work or would like to find out what we could do in your school then please e-mail, adam@londonbubble.org.uk
Speech Bubbles (Ks1)
This term see's the launch of our latest in-school programme of drama activity "Speech Bubbles". This programme is being delivered in partnership with the Southwark Pupil Development Centres initiative and works with children in KS1 to develop their communication skills. "Speech Bubbles" will be happening this year in Camelot, Crampton, Langbourne, Oliver Goldsmiths, St James the great, Snowsfields, Tower Bridge and Townsend primary schools. Keep an eye on this web-site as we will publish research findings of the effectiveness of the first term of this programme in January. (Birkbeck College are the research partner through the Knowledge Connect programme.
Engagement programme (Ks3)
This programme see's pupils from Charter School, St Michaels RC, St Michael's and All Angels and Notre Dame coming together at London Bubble throughout the year to devise, rehearse and perform a new piece of theatre. This programme is part of the Southwark 14-19 Guarantee and is accredited at Arts Award Bronze and Silver.
Peer2peer (Ks4)
Our group of trainee workshop leaders will be touring a Peer2peer workshop programme to Southwark Secondary schools as part of the STEP (Southwark Theatres Education Partnership) festival in November. These workshops will use drama and theatre to explore the stories of young Southwark.
Bespoke projects
We are working in partnership with Ivydale primary school, to create a new piece of musical theatre which will be performed at the Albany, Deptford in December. We have a drama practitioner in residence at Fairlawn Primary school to continue the work we started there last year as part of our "Speak Out " project. We are in the process of creating a short programme of drama sessions to support a new initiative for 14 - 19 year olds in Lewisham who are at risk of exclusion - more to come as the details are finalised.
