Tonight
Fun session, actually felt tired after. This is increasingly physical. Really like the soundtrack of peoples talk. Think we should avoid simulating as it spoil an interesting texture.
Fun
23/06/10: You're right Ian - it was fun. My lecture needs fluidity - must practice. Now's the time to! I like the idea of children growing up during the course of the play, then falling asleep at the benches - possibly DEAD! At the LOOK-clowning scene, I waited until I heard someone say LOOK - I had my back to the audience. No way of knowing when to start. The songs are different from each other - the first is bouncy - the second rather mellow for the most part. Though, at the end of the Bonnie ballad everyone is in a real happy state. I quite liked the dance, as did Joolz. Again, I've gotta practice. Onwards, my friends!
P.S. It's my BIRTHDAY today! And on this fortunate day, I'd like wish all my friends HAPPINESS and PEACE!
Elephant Lovers
1st July 2010: Great buzz last Tuesday. Though I didn't get to lecture, I quite soaked up all that we were blocking. Now's the time to soak! Beside the Thames, where we must look, since looking is entertaining. And uniform looking is essential - it's a group thing. There are various ways to look - a group way, a personal way - and OVER - what's that about? Do we feel like diving into the riv?! . . . Fay's got a chunk to say at the play-ground - I must be prompt to hear her cues - she craves our attention. Right from the start, everybody's going on about ELEPHANTS! Then clowningly we look at other things - then we pine for the lovely Bonnie. . . . The last 2 scenes have moments of hurrying (unrest) and moments of rest. Like life - with its stops and starts. Lee's got us dancing, and Lucy draws attention to Tower Bridge. We're cooking now! Can't wait for next Tues!
Pooja
Oh Pooja - where art thou?!
Here Comes the Big One
06/07/10: Hmmm mm . . . No word from Pooja. You out there kid?! If this weather holds we'll have a ball this Saturday. Looking forward to the performance - the culmination of half a year's work and speculation. The play's taken a final shape - that's good, at this stage. The 1st 3 scenes are about elephants! How did that happen?! . . . Just beginning to get a feel of me, as office worker, making the steps my own and walking in straight lines on them. It's meant to show hustle and bustle, a sense of urgency . . . Hope there won't be a crowd of people sitting on the final benches. Long live the Bubble (and Nellie!)
Thursday
Is the additional rehearsal going ahead on Thursday ?
Yes
07/07/10: Absolutely, Ian ma man! Tuesday's blocking of all 7 scenes, in the rehearsal room, was useful. We didn't go outside at all - which we shall in costume - on Thursday - tomorrow, that is. Sing the Head-of- the-Herd-was-calling bit confidentially, almost in a whiper. Ian, I think you get to say LOOK at the end, pointing to Tower Bridge. . . .7 levels of tension beckon!! See ya all!
Whisper
Correction: Whisper not whiper (as stated above!)
Thank You Bubblers
10/07/10: Howdy Bubblers! This is to say a big THANK YOU to Peth, Joolz and my fellow actors - for With The Tide and the whole Saturday-afternoon-Bubble experience. I had enormous fun acting in front of the very friendly audience - and greatly enjoyed our 2010 rehearsals leading up to the final show. See you all soon! (I've decided to sign up for the Thurs Intergenerational Project.) Long live the Bubble (and Nellie + Bonnie too!)
Today
It felt like along dance piece. Interesting, if we'd performed it more than once to an audience I think it would have got really interesting. As it is today, it was certainly challenging. Would like to do it again as we could tweak it.
Next term I hope to manage to attend the Wednesday group. I feel as though I have only been part time on this project and I regret that as it has been a great group.
