lovely work
This new Lewisham group has started up with some old faces and some new friends. We have had a fascinating first two weeks exploring stories that happen in public spaces and playing with a style that leaves a trace of the emotional journey on the stage. Love to hear comments from any of the group.
Tonights session
Just planning tonights session and really looking forward to hearing/seeing Ruths story.
leading / following
Really nice movement work this week - great to see such thoughtful ensemble playing. The play between leading/following and the different ways of leading was very strong and for me we might well begin to explore the connection between constructive and destructive leadership/following.
Your sessions

Interesting last post. really interested to find out how you explore constructive/ destructive leadership/ following.. leadership is so powerful its easy to forget it can be destructive as well!
Jools
I hope you have a lovely time with jools this week, i will see you all after half term.
exploring spaces
My intention last night was to work on the spaces around us - the emphasis shifted though - perhaps partly down to the weather and our very quick walk around the locale - to exploring how we present emotional states and characters with a minimum of words. great play with the ensemble presentation of characters and engendering emotion through the use of space/proximity/image and rhythm. If you missed the session we will start next week with a presentation of our findings.
Trip to see Random
1 March 2010
We are running a trip to see Random by Debbie Tucker Green. Its being produced by the Royal Court to be performed in a shop in the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre. Adam saw the first production and was blown away by it.
We have got 30 tickets at 3 quid each, for 7pm on the evening of Monday March 15th.
Please contact the office on 020 7237 4434 to reserve a ticket.
march 4th
For those of you who missed last nights session: we worked on wordless storytelling, starting with an event from our own day, moving on to a solo storyteller passing the story on exercise, and then finishing groups choosing stories from the newspaper to retell. Really lovely work, couple more weeks of playing and then we will start to select the material for performance in the summer, so keep a log of what intrigues you, what you would like to repeat, what you think would engage an audience. see you all next week.
march 11th
Just about to head across South London to Forest Hill to run tonights group. A real highlight of my week when I can get away from my desk and really enjoy being in a rehearsal room with fantastic theatre makers.
march 18th
two settings in the forest hill area,
setting one - opposite forest hill ambulance station
a grand house behind a metal construction fence - maribel and lee appear around the corner, children playing football in the street, a babble of fun and joy -then the ball goes over the fence and slowly they approach, moving away from the watchers until a rattle and they RUN away back around the corner and out of sight.
setting two
the underpass - jo appears at the far end - every female commuter, then the hooded man appears, lurking in the shadows, the tension increases as they get nearer to the watchers - then relief - they know each other, friends, perhaps more, the holding of hands as they disappear up the steps and into the distance. Lovely moments on a wet thursday.
