Final act!
In July we closed the Lewisham youth theatres with final performances at Forest Fest and Brent Knoll school achievement assembly. The groups had previously been funded through Aiming High for Disabled Children and the Positive activities fund, despite always being well attended and well loved they were defunded this year. Many of the teens have joined the Sydenham and Forest Hill youth forum as a way of continuing to have their voices heard and some of the teens have moved across to our Southwark groups so they can continue to make theatre. The three years we have been working in that part of the borough have brought many memorable moments, including a wonderful night of outdoor performances in Mayow Park in the summer of 2010 and a collection of stories told by young people in Special education that were then performed by our inclusive groups. we will continue to develop opportunities with our friends and partners in Lewisham at Brent Knoll and forest Hill schools. Many thanks to Colin, Melissa, Fiona, Adam and Nicole for all their creative work with these groups.
