ending
If we have to subtitle everything or sum up by explaining everything at the end then we will have failed in dramatic terms anyway. It should be open to interpretation informed by the auidence's experiences. If our impulses are true then the audience should get it. To finish by saying this is what it was about, would be an insult to their intelligence. It should, if the play works be clear. As protagonists we do not need to know until the end when we should have learn't something, otherwise our performances will be tired and unimaginative.
Ending (re-kindled)
02/08/08: Been wondering. I suppose Peth's going to sleep idea could indeed be the solution. At the outset . . . all characters prepare for sleep. Unit 2 and sleep comes . . . all involved can sleep, before the Duvet song. Ending . . . after the Dream Warriors emerge from the Blue Cow . . . all may sleep . . . lights dim.
fairy tale
Sounds almost like a traditional fairy tale, which seems right.
How Many
07/08/08: Hi. I'm gonna be attending the voice recording this coming Tues. How many of you from the six clusters are gonna attend? Every main character, and their twins?
How Many
I'll be there at 6.30pm....
Black
12/08/08: Hello faithful ones! It was fun doing the sound-recording earlier in the evening. I'm real glad things went smoothly - all finished, in about fifteen minutes! (15 minutes of fame?!) Quite caught up in my poem - all about a BLACK world!
Rosie
Good luck, Rosie! (Er, at your sound-recording, I mean!)
Similar Things
21/08/08: Hello, to all out there! The main characters often say similar things. Sara-Jane says, My heart craves for love/Crazy love. Neko says the same thing. Neko says, There are things in the dark that impel me to be scared. Malcolm says, I'm scared of what? Something unseen, unknown. Maybe they all know one another right from the beginning - well before they're in the dream boat. Or maybe they just meet in our dream, not in real-life. Then after they AWAKE they meet for the first time. Trying to focus on the story to clarify the plot and other aspects. Any thoughts, Ian? Other folksies?!
Exhibition
Just seen show at Photographer's Gallery: Danny Treacle, mask like, dream like images. Powerful and worth seeing. I think focus on getting the action/events story across, audience should do the rest.
Artist above
Correction to above artist is caled Danny Treacy. He has a web site but I would advise you not to look at it with children as someof the imagery could be deemed offensive. Still the images are excellent.
