Speak Out and Creative Literacy
The Speak Out project continues in Lewisham primary schools. I've been observing sessions in Kilmorie school and have seen how effectively drama exercises develop the focus and confidence of the children involved. This project is being delivered in a number of primary schools across the borough over the next two years.
We've just finished a Creative Literacy project in Alma primary. Sonia and Wanda worked closely with the class teachers using drama to explore various aspects of the curriculum and improve the literacy skills of children in Key Stage 2. Creative Literact continues in two new schools during the summer term.
Contact the office or use this message board if you have any questions or comments about Creative Theatre in Schools.
Schools stuff
Our schools work is continuing to go well, "Speak Out" which puts drama workers and Speech Therapists together is working in 5 Lewisham primary schools and 1 special school. Creative Literacy, which uses drama to support an active approach to the curriculum, is running in two Southwark primary schools this term and will be in three new schools next term.
Both of these projects are funded until the end of this academic year and we are busy trying to find funding so that we can continue this valuable work in Primary Schools. If you have any ideas, leads or contacts for further funding then please let us know!
Schools stuff
Our primary schools work continues to grow, this term we are working in Southwark Park Primary and St Peters Walworth with Creative literacy projects, and in Horniman, Fairlawn and St Bartholomews with Speak Out. We are also developing a drama training programme for Learning mentors in Southwark as part of the boroughs innovative Pupil Development Centres programme.
Keep an eye on the web site as next week we will be updating the schools pages with information on how you can book Bubble work into your primary school.
New offer
Hello, please look at our web sites schools page which has been just been updated. We have three programmes available to primary schools to book from september and are keen to work in partnership with secondary schools to create new programmes of work.
To discuss a project in your school please e mail me direct adam@londonbubble.org.uk.
fan made
Also check out fanmadetheatre.com for a very modest investment (twenty pounds) you could buy a stake in this exciting new Bubble adventure. The stake would give you access to the Fan made website, where you could get you class to suggest an idea for our Summer Parks touring production, after easter they could look at the site again and vote on the five shortlisted plays. If they like the final production you could bring them to see it or encourage the to come with friends and family! Your twenty pounds also buys you 1 ticket and an invite to the stakeholders party.
This is a great way to become involved in the work of London Bubble and get some purposeful ICT lessons into the bargain. Call me if you want to discuss it further 020 7232 5965.

Speech Bubbles
We are very pleased to announce the launch of our "Speech Bubbles" programme in partnership with the Southwark Pupil Development Centres. This programme of work will suport KS1 children to develop their communication skills through creative drama activity. Keep an eye on our do stuff in schools page for progress reports.
Speech bubbles
The speech bubbles project has started really well and next week we have the pleasure in inviting parents of the young people who have been taking part to come and see, and with a bit of gentle persuasion, take part in the sessions. The sessions place a strong emphasis on story telling and story acting and encourage the childrens communication in a fun and creative learning environment. We will evaluate the first term of the programme in December and I will post a summary of our findings on the do stuff in schools page of this site.
if you want to know more about this project and other stuff that we do in schools please e-mail me on adam@londonbubble.org.uk.
Speech Bubbles
Next week we will post on the website the research findings from our first term of work with Speech Bubbles. The research has been carried out by Paula Robinson for Birkbeck College and was funded through the Knowledge Connect programme.
