More
More on 29/05/08: Evening approaches, and I brood upon the forthcoming show. We can scale that Everest(!) - for the second time - I have faith. Have been reciting lines - and soon hope to practice Actions. Lots to do during the show - always on stage. Hope Ian's getting real good at playing his role - all the best. Any chance of a progress report, buddy?! (n.b. Bought an army cap, coloured pens and a ring)

What a great venue - thought we adapted well. We are such a supportive group. I loved the process from text to performance. Thanks everyone for accomodating a latecomer.
I\'m looking forward to future work.
A Big Thanks
05/06/08: Hi, Bubble People. Nice to read the e-mails, all about our success last night. I made a meal of it (nearly 100%!) and felt creative juices flowing. The lines are still floating in my head. Everyone on stage did so well and the audience was massive. A big thanks to Peth and all the Bubble folk. See you again, soon . . .

I decided not to get involved with the Bubble\\\'s Red Red Shoes this year due to outside stuff going on but I do believe that if the Bubble is too progress and fresh it needs to vary its roles for actors. I loved been part of last years summer project but if the Bubble continues to use the same old actors for parts others are not going to have a chance. When I heard that the Red Red Shoes was going to be performed in a proper theatre space I was a little jealous even. The Bubble is great and maybe I will come back but what about giving other actors a chance rather than sticking with the same old, same old.

As one of the current same old, same old, I might be biased. However I do think it is more to do with commitment than the Bubble sticking with the same old crew. The team on red shoes, stuck at it for many months and the cast that performed it self selected by sticking at it and not dropping out. The Baddies is an open group and has suffered in the past from unstable membership. Few of the current actors see it as a step to stardom, they do it because they love to act and they make the necessary commitment. The actors volunteered for their lines and took on what they felt they could manage. it took two terms and the strength of the group was that so many stayed commited. The casting process was as democratic as it could be. The play being largely a chorus offered a very democratic approach to line allocation. Anyone can join the baddies and make that commitment. However it is not probably a road to professional acting. I think it is a lot better than that, as most jobbing actors rarely get the opportunity to perform such challenging roles unless they are stars. One of the essential aspects of the message board is about self expression but that is diminished if people are not able to name themselves. The rest of us risk being challenged for our views. It would be good if Anonymous could identify themselves and take the next step in developing a real dialogue by declaring their interest and naming themself. I'd suggest joining the Baddies and commiting fully if you want to develop a project this is one of the ways in. If you see it as a stepping stone to the West End Stage you are probably misleading yourself, however the Bubble should be a forum for allowing other types of theatre to develop, that includes discovering new talent but also developing those for whom the theater is more than a job. So please don't tell me that the actors who committed week in week out to two terms were unfairly favoured by being given an opportunity to act in front of friends and Bubble supporter. I believe the tickets paid for the venue. If you are keen to perform and to develop the Bubble take a chance join the Bubble, join the baddies. Or make your own proposal, I'm sure there will be interested parties.

hi anoymous, its a shame you did not get involved in the red red shoes,it was great working with everyone, did you come to see it? we were all comfortable in the roles we had, some people can take more on than others due to commitments, nerves, all sorts of reasons.i think your comments are maybe a bit unfair ,but thats your opion.how about urban dreams! should be good.

Ian and Lesley thank you for your valid comments about the Red Red Shoes experience. I am anoyomous and I feel a little bad at criticsing the \\\'same old, same old\\\' routine but I think I felt last year after Fourty Walls that some people tended to be awarded bigger parts. I agree Ian with you that Bubble is not a side step to the West End, most people do Bubble because we want to see Community Theatre thrive in South East London and I loved \\\'The Fourty Walls\\\' experience and being part of that. I admit I would have loved to perform at the Space and worked on a scripted piece of Theatre. Urban Dreams is a real possibility and I am sorry that i missed out on performing in The Red Red Shoes. I am glad that Bubble has survived and coming back for Urban Dreams would good too. Secretly i would love to be a professional actor but I know its not easy, I would like to be part of Bubble again.

Looking forward to doing stuff this Summer. Good to have a real discussion in the board! See you soon.
I, Claudius?
Matt, buddy. Used to be, once upon a time, the BAD group would end up offering me chunky parts. It felt divine saying lots and lots on stage - doing more than some others. The last time I had a hefty role was when the Bubble did Alphabetical Order (by Michael Frayn)back in 2004. Since then, the parts are always rather equal - Ian's recent Red Beard, Mamta's Franvera were exceptions. Do I miss big roles? Kinda. But let it be known - there's a lotta fun in the roles I get given! Bring on the good times. Coming next Wednesday?!
