Just a small point

I noticed that Daniel, the actor who played the Dong, had a narration role in the story of the old man. I wondered why that part could not have been given to one of the large band of "70 Londoners".

Mesmerizing

This is the second time that I have encountered theatre in a Park. The journey this time was spellbinding. An outstanding contribution to theatre from all those who took part.

Liked the Rhythm

Tues, 31 July: Quite enjoyed our first night. I liked the rhythm of it and the show was short and sharp - the audience applause at the end was a sound for sore ears! I missed: walking in resting on an umbrella, getting all the words to the song 100%, being still when room 6 was revealed. My mike fell off after the first string/book room bit. I think I might be better off without the contraption! Let's all take Ian's advice and use our energies to make each show better than the last.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for working so hard over the weekend. All things considered the focus was amazing and the first show impressive. But as Ian says, now we make it better and better.

And thanks for Fahrenheit 451 for an interesting question. I wanted Dan in the storytelling troupe as he has done a lot of what I call, "multi voice storytelling" on other Bubble shows. His role - as is the role of all the "professionals" - is to pass on what he knows by practising it. And bear in mind, he's a Londoner too.

Thrill

It's exciting! The thrill of going on stage and acting, dancing, singing - there's nothing else like it, on planet Earth. The band is doing a good job, as are the wall-holders. I think we're missing Ed on Wed. night. Yes, I like chicken soup, Youngest dear, but I don't want to hold a live chicken over and over!!

Second Night

Wed. 01 Aug, 07: Had fun last night. The Mikes didn't work again - I think I should just go without one. Looking forward to the challenge of a new venue - the Laban. Hear the weather's gonna be okay till Sun., when it might rain. The wall folks are getting better and better. The Old Man just doesn't want to favour the Youngest, right until the end. She's not so bright, you see!

Good two

How wrong can I be, I was already for a dip, but everyone pushed a little more energy & it paid off. I still have way to go but feel sure that this intense week will offer opportunities for us all to get even better.
Today a new venue which can you throw any body so we'll all need to work a bit harder today. The venue sounds exciting. Is there any where to park?
Very different audence last night!
Some of wondered, will it be a modern dance or ballet audience, Gauloise & black polo necks, or elegant upright & hoighty toyty. Apologies for poor spelling, I should know better.
I'm sure Peth will have some interesting notes, I will try to address yesterdays today.

Laban

Thurs, 02 Aug: Hello folks. Enjoyed myself last night at Laban. As Ed was missing, we forgot to collect some of our books! Found myself cramped in a very small space during the first dance. We can all do better today, I'm sure. Hoping for the best - hope the good weather continues to persist. The Old Man has only a few more weeks to live. His doctors say he'll probably leave us in October!

ding to that dong

I'm dinging in response to Muhammads dong. There seem to be two of us & we post. Peths probably the alarm clock or the cuckoo but we could certainly do with some notes, not just from him, from the rest of you. It only takes a minute. Last night was bound to be a bit harder but we did manage to keep the wheels on & try a few ideas. Keep it up. It will get better. Yesterday with all the changes it became really clear just how reliant we are on the stage managers, the crew, front of house & Pip & the costume team, big up to them, & lets be helpful with the costumes & listening etc.

Better and better

Hello everyone, first time I've posted for ages. I'm so glad we ditched the microphones - it recaptured the immediacy of the relationship between performers and audience and I felt everyone with lines to deliver rose to the occasion - well done all of you. Tara and Josh especially appeared to have been freed up to give much more character to their roles - the mikes had been constraining you it seems.
I loved the space that we were performing in - plenty of reflections and interesting angles which of course is what the show already brings.
Enjoy your night off everyone and don't let the energy drop.

 Andrew
