Despite a huge campaign involving hundreds of letters and emails of support (including audiences, participants, peers, teachers and academics) and cross-party support at the House of Commons, the London Assembly, at London Councils, from our local boroughs (Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich) and other boroughs across London - Arts Council England has decided to cut London Bubble's funding entirely from 1 April this year.

The company, and many supporters who have already been in touch, are shocked by the decisions and its implications. It is felt that we play a vital role in our local community, providing opportunities for hundreds of participants from 5 to 75+ years old to make theatre. We are one of the few companies in London that focuses on introducing non-theatregoers to the joys of theatre, and we have developed long term relationships in primary and secondary schools across south east London and beyond.

So while we don't dispute the Arts Council's right to make cuts, we are disappointed and confused by the outcome, and now have to deal with the very short notice between the announcement of their recommendation to its implementation, which puts the company in an extremely difficult position.
We'd like to thank everyone who has supported London Bubble through the past two months. This fantastic support has come from all parts of London, from all ages and from all sections of the community.

We are now focussed on the future and are currently looking at ways in which the company can continue in some form, and then start the process of rebuilding.
