Save The Bubble Campaign Update

Post date: Tuesday January 8, 2008

The campaign to save London Bubble continues

We've received a number of calls since the New Year asking us for the latest on the situation with The Arts Council funding campaign, so here's a quick update.

Our response to The Arts Council has to be sent to them by 15th January.  This is being worked on by a combination of staff and board, and should be ready to send to them by the end of this week.  The Arts Council then meets in the last week of January to consider the responses, and we will be informed of the final decision in early February.

In the meantime, we are continuing to ask people to write to their MPs, in order for them to lobby the Arts Council.  We are also asking people to continue posting messages on our website.  The messages that have been posted so far have been fantastic and demonstrate the special place that London Bubble holds in the local community and across London.

We've been pleased with the amount of coverage we've received so far.  We have been featured in The Evening Standard, The Guardian, The Independent, The Times, The Stage, Southwark News, South London Press, BBC London (Radio and TV), LBC, Radio 2 - and we have coverage about to appear in local papers in East, North and West London, covering the areas in which we perform in the summer.  We are continuing our work to gain more coverage - particularly individual stories about participants.

So the message at this stage is: please don't give up.  Carry on spreading the word about the situation and writing to your MPs.  We can carry on doing this right up until the point that the final decision has been made.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone for their fantastic support.
