Description

Cat's Cradle or Sirens of Titan, or something with plenty of whimsy by Kurt Vonnegut

Galapagos

Galpagos is also interesting, especially with extinction and evolution figuring.

Ian MacNaughton

science, technology, religion, arms races, breakfast...

vonnegut is always crammed full of ideas and most importantly, great jokes. who doesn't want to see actors say chrono-synclastic infundibulum?

Vonegetesque

I love the books, should be in the spirit of rather than literal, or should it be literal retell, either way it would be outrageous.

this is the best book ever

and the Bubble would make magic of it.

Harmoniums

30/05/10: I've finished reading the book - it's fab - groundbreaking SF stuff. I'd love it if the Unk-in-Mercury-with-the-Harmoniums could be included in the play. The Harmoniums are just so fascinating - real aliens!

INFUNDIBULUM

05/06/10: Constant Malachi is the protagonist of the piece - very wealthy & reluctant to go to Titan. His future is predicted by Rumfoord who informs Constant that he is due to marry Mrs Rumfoord! . . . The characters in the story are likeable and funny. Many moments of pure fun. Our play needs a great imagistic representation of the CHRONO-SYNCLASTIC INFUNDIBULUM. . . . I want to see the 'Hollywood night club' in Mercury!

Putt Putt

10/06/10: Wonder if the butler's made it in to the script! His exclamation of 'Putt putt - putt putt putt' to Constant and his bleating of 'The mah-stuh-' . . . 'The young mah-stuh.' . . . And how does the dog Kazak get represented on stage?

Kick-start

06/07/10: Heard that the rehearsals have begun in earnest. Good luck to the Vonnegut-Bubble people! Think the final play might be a sizzling rib-tickler! The initial dialogue between Rumfoord and Constant is itself amusing and a half. It's soothing to think of a future time with humans all awash with a number of extra insights - if only that turned out to be true! Bit upsetting (to say the least) - the thought of a war with Mars! . . . Have fun all you Bubblevonnegut actors!!

Update

Sorry not to have been in touch before. Yes, rehearsals are now into week two. Great cast and crew, wrestling with an expansive canvas. And yes Moncrief the butler's in. And yes the dialogue is witty and crisp. Currently we're playing with innovative audience formations - so standby for the reversing fish tale and the lock gate. Attenders will be rewarded with hot chocolate and goof balls, but will need to be on their toes.
