Creative Homes is a gentle and social theatre making process, specifically developed to take place in sheltered housing accommodation.
Currently running across 5 Southwark sheltered housing schemes, the project has expanded significantly since it's pilot in 2012.
Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery the programme is seeking to expand further in 2016 and 2017.
A small group from each home meets every fortnight for a facilitated conversation and interactive workshop led by London Bubble theatre makers and practitioners. Bubble's role is to start a series of creative discussions in the homes that bring peer groups, young people and artists into the settings. The outcome of these feed into drama workshops, performed sharings and public performances.
Participants are encouraged to share stories, anecdotes, to move, laugh, play and connect. The reflections, words, wisdom, stories and opinions generated in these workshops have been shared at informal performances to the wider community, involving the older people as performers and/or producers and/or commentators.
