Withie lanterns in progress
Family lantern making workshops
Les Zoings

Illuminate Rotherhithe is a celebration of our community's history. Incorporating free events - talks, music and dance, it takes place across SE16 from 23 - 27 November 2017.
More information about all the events taking place during the festival can be found at:
Programmed in collaboration with TunedIn London

Illuminate Rotherhithe will be launched by a community lantern procession on 23 November from 5-6.30pm.

Free, family Lantern Making workshops
In preparation of the lantern procession, we have planned a series of free lantern making workshops, suitable for all aged 6 and above.
Make a lantern in any of the workshops and collect it on the 23rd November to join the procession.
The lanterns are made from withies covered in PVA coated tissue.  They take time to make (but are very satisfying!) Please be prepared to stay for the full length of the workshop.  You may even want to come back for more...

To book, click on your date of choice below.
Please note any child under the age off 11 needs to be accompanied by an adult.

The Procession
Thu 23 November, 5pm.  Meet by Mayflower Park, Lagado Mews.
The procession passes along Albion Channel, crosses Albion Street and ends at the river bank behind Brunel Museum.
It will be accompanied by music from Les Zoings.  Zanily dressed in fashionably up to the (last) minute, show-stopping costumes, Les Zoings are a marching brass band from S.E. London who play a medley of songs from around the world bringing musical frivolity where’er they walk.

We are also looking for volunteers to help make the procession a success. Please click here for volunteering opportunities.
