Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves

For Christmas 2002, London Bubble took its pantomime to one of London’s best-loved venues, performing at Greenwich Theatre for the first time. The result was a classic caper of camels, criminals and caving.

As is usual with Bubble pantomimes, a familiar story was given a surprising twist, with the action set in Greenwich in 2012. The world is gripped by a terrible drought, and it is up to our hero Ali Baba, Irish dancer Margo, and her love-struck mother Vera (played by Bubble regular Simon Thomson) to find the water that is being hidden away by the evil Major Bann. They are helped by Augustus the dancing camel and a couple of serenading meerkats.

Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves was a great success – over 16,000 people came to see the show during its five-week run.
