ReAct for Respect in rehearsal

ReAct 4 Respect

Show dates: 16 November to 7 December 2007

ReAct for Respect is a show about what matters to young people.

5 young performers worked with a director to create a performance about the hot issues of the day.  What constitutes anti-social behaviour?  Is graffiti art or vandalism?  Do people understand the problems of being a teenager in London today?

The show was part of London Bubble's Peer Project, in which material is gathered from a series of consultation workshops in secondary schools.  A cast of young people is recruited, and they use the workshop material as the basis to create the performance piece.

The cast then perform the show to audiences of their peers in secondary schools across Southwark - along with a post-show Forum Theatre workshop, in which the audience members have the opportunity to stop the action, intervene and show what they would have done differently, in order to change the eventual outcome.

ReAct for Respect was created in association with the Safer Southwark Partnership (SSP) and will tour to schools in Greenwich and Lewisham with the support of the Jack Petchey Foundation and the Joanies Trust.
