Bubble’s Creative Hubs offer a gentle and social theatre making process for older adults in our community.
The programme has been running since 2012, originally developed specifically to take place in sheltered housing accommodation. It has since expanded and now also includes community venues and extra care schemes in Southwark and Lewisham.
Groups meet weekly for a facilitated conversation and interactive workshop led by London Bubble theatre makers and practitioners. Bubble’s role is to start a series of creative discussions that bring peer groups, young people and artists into the settings. The outcome of these feed into drama workshops, performed sharings and public performances.
Participants are encouraged to share stories, anecdotes, to move, laugh, play and connect. The reflections, words, wisdom, stories and opinions generated in these workshops have been shared at informal performances to the wider community, involving the older people as performers and/or producers and/or commentators.
