Seven volunteers from, From Docks to Desktops adventured to Canary Wharf to visit London Docklands Museum. Armed with enquiring minds and a treasure hunt; the day aimed to enthuse, reveal and intrigue us.Our visit to the museum was to find out more about the history of London’s Docks; cargo imported and exported, tools and machinery used by Dockers, the story of the docks closure and the docklands development. During our visit Jodie and Jasmine, two of our young volunteers went back in time in the museums interactive educational room loading cargo on to a ship without making the ship tilt; and they did it! Patrick who had been a engineer at West India Docks (where the museum is located) told us stories of ships, cargo and how the area used to look.
