We were commissioned by Croydon Council and worked with Croydon Creative Health & Trading Standards to deliver a bespoke, interactive play for Year 5s to raise awareness of online scams.
The project was part of a wider public health initiative supporting children’s well-being and gave them the tools to make safer choices.
Synopsis
For her 10th birthday all Kam wants is the latest app that every kid at school is playing – Stoxworld.
When her dad surprises her with a tablet and the game, she’s excited and has the most fun building her virtual dream world until her account is hacked, and all her hard earned game money disappears…
The play is interactive and follows a workshop inviting children to reflect on their own behaviour online, share advice with peers and explore safer choices while gaming.

Devising Process
Kam’s World didn’t start with a script. Our Associate Artists and Artistic Director, Marie Vickers, worked collaboratively and used improvisation techniques to create the characters and devise the show.
The devising process also involved research and development, as well as a consultation workshop with the target audience before being toured.
Devising Process
- Increased awareness of online scams to children, including how to recognise risks, react and resolve unsafe situations.
- Provided an opportunity for children to reflect on their own behaviour online, share advice with peers, and explore safer choices.
- Engaging the children with contemporary cultural references through language, set and sound design made the content accessible, digestible and relatable.
- Use of drama games and interactive activities encouraged collaboration and confidence-building among students.
Following the tour, we were contracted to film the show and provide accompanying learning resources for staff and students to further the reach to more schools.
