What is the Rotherhithe Shed?

Currently taking a break, back in the workshop from Thu 27th January 2022.

The Rotherhithe Shed is open on:

Mondays and Thursdays*
1.30 – 4.30pm
Bookable sessions using our Covid-safe format in the Bubble workshop, SE16 4JD

Our Covid-safe adaptations for sessions in the workshop include:
– members must book a place in advance as we will have limited capacity
– individual workstations which allow for social distancing
– members are required to wear masks when indoors and practice frequent handwashing
– bring a project to work on
– ask for guidance if you are unfamiliar with any tool or machine

Rotherhithe Shed is designed for older men (55yrs+) in Southwark (but welcomes men and women), based on the very successful Australian Men’s Shed movement. A partnership project between London Bubble Theatre Company and Time & Talents, it aims to bring together older men (and women) to put their practical skills to good use – fixing, making, whittling, drilling, sawing and generally tinkering.
Sessions are held in a well equipped workshop where participants can work together on a range of practical activities. Skilled artists and technical experts are available to support the participants, and project ideas are strongly encouraged and developed. If you have something that needs mending or maintaining, be it a wobbly chair or a squeaky bike bring it along.

Rotherhithe Shed is a good opportunity for anyone looking for social and creative experiences, including a chance to make new friends, to experience the camaraderie of working with other men or simply putting practical skills to good use.
It’s free, it’s participative, and it’s open to all. Whether you are someone with no skills or highly skilled, there is a role for you at Rotherhithe Shed.

* We have short breaks for public holidays.

We would like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund, City Bridge Trust & The Henry Smith Charity for their generous support.
