OUR YOUNG THEATRE MAKERS ARE BACK WITH A NEW PLAY

Sixteen-year-old Tobi is navigating the challenges of temptation, going viral and responsibility in cost-of-living crisis London. With his mother consumed by work, Tobi must step up and care for his younger brother, while still trying to carve out a path of success for himself. Natural talent propels him into the TikTok spotlight, but with this newfound fame comes envy, negative attention, and vengeful frenemies. Will Tobi be easily influenced and succumb to the pressure?

INFLUENCED was a forum theatre performance created by Cohort 19 of our Young Theatre Makers programme. Over 9 weeks, these 18 -24 year olds worked collaboratively to devise the piece and then toured it to schools and youth settings.

Young Theatre Makers' TOUR

Cohort 19 took influenced to schools and education settings within London and beyond. These included:

  • Deptford Green School
  • Bacons College
  • St Dunstan’s College
  • Southwark College
  • Guildford School of Acting
  • A fundraiser performance on level 9 of the Shard

& two public performances for family, friends, supporters, and the local community.

Ending each performance, our Director Russenï Fisher invited the audience to talk about the issues raised in the play, examine them, and enact solutions that could help ‘Tobi’. This was an incredibly insightful and entertaining part of the show.

with thanks to our donors:

A fantastic performance that deserves to be seen by more people - it was so good!

The cast were so supportive of one another and seemed as if they were having lots of fun whilst working really hard.

The talent, energy, vibe of the cast and crew was inspiring. Powerful story told brilliantly.
