Illuminate Rotherhithe is a celebration of our community’s history. Incorporating free events – talks, music and dance, it took place across SE16 from 23 – 27 November 2017.

More information about all the events during this year’s festival can be found at:

Programmed in collaboration with TunedIn London

Illuminate Rotherhithe was launched by a community lantern procession on 23 November.
We hope this will be an annual event so please keep in touch for details about Illuminate Rotherhithe 2018.

Free, family Lantern Making workshops
In preparation of the lantern procession, we ran a series of free lantern making workshops, suitable for all aged 6 and above.
Over 100 people came to make lanterns with us and many of them came back to collect them & join the procession on 23rd November.
The lanterns are made from withies covered in PVA coated tissue.  They take time to make (but are very satisfying!)
The Procession
Took place on Thu 23 November, 5pm.  Starting from Mayflower Park, Lagado Mews.
The procession passed along Albion Channel, crosses Albion Street and ended at the river bank behind Brunel Museum.
It was be accompanied by music from Les Zoings.  Zanily dressed in fashionably up to the (last) minute, show-stopping costumes, Les Zoings are a marching brass band from S.E. London who play a medley of songs from around the world bringing musical frivolity where’er they walk.We are very grateful to all the volunteers who helped make the procession a success.
